This song is about taking back control. It’s about embracing your inner strength. When you feel stuck—whether at the bottom of a bottle, in a dead-end job, or in a painful relationship—it’s time to break through and get the hell out. Take a risk. Take charge of your life. There’s no turning back.
“Now” is also the first music video we recorded for this album—a DIY experiment in learning the intricacies of lighting and film editing. Trial by fire. (Most of the work was completed by the amazing Jason Reed Milner, who also composed the music for this song.)

“‘Now’ is full of attitude and power, the trickling pianos amid sustained guitars making for a decidedly aggressive track.” –Ilker Yücel, ReGen Magazine, Baltimore, MD, May 19, 2016,

"This is top-drawer industrial-synthpop that is well-produced, has a killer hook and had me hunting out the album after one listen." –Adam Williams/DJ:Traumahound, A Model of Control, “Tuesday Ten: 248: Tracks of the Month (January 2016),” London, England, Feb. 2, 2016,

“My introduction to The Sweetest Condition was through the loudest, most aggressive track on this album, ‘Now.’ It’s a song you might expect from a collaboration between Trent Reznor and Madonna. The edgy, industrial fabric – brilliant synth and background vocal distortion – combines with Benson’s voice, which sounds uncannily like Madonna’s. But that’s not the only reason. There’s a clear pop sensibility to the songwriting that recalls not just the Material Girl herself but also old-school pop music with a hint of ’80s new wave.” —Geoff Wilbur, Boston, MA, March 17, 2016,

“Songs such as ‘Beyond the Blue’ and ‘Now’ are exactly the sort of music the scene needs to drag itself out of the bland and repetitive hole it has crawled into over the past few years.” —John Crofts, Johannesburg, South Africa, 925|Rebellion, March 12, 2016,

“‘Now’ tells the story of a protagonist who is trying to escape the pull of alcoholism. A fairly simple verse and piano accompaniment gives way to a powerful set of choruses that amp up the energy with a wall of synth, guitar and highly distorted background vocals. ‘Now’ is one of the most powerful tracks on this excellent album [‘Edge of the World’].” —Chuck Frey, Modern Synthpop, Wisconsin, Jan. 12, 2016,
