The biggest influence for “The Wound,” the final track (No. 05) on The Sweetest Condition’s “Truth & Light” EP, was Depeche Mode. We wanted to write a deeply emotional, spiritual and sensual song with the vocal style of David Gahan that soaks into skin like warm water. If you turn it up and listen on good speakers, the low, rumbling bass and percussion will cut right through you, engulfing you in a wave of poetic sound. The cinematic, moody “oh-ohs” are an integral part of the song, pulling it along like a steam engine or an otherworldly church choir. The track is a foreboding nod to what music is yet to come from The Sweetest Condition.
PRESS REVIEW:
“Dark and brooding, drawing on muses like Nine Inch Nails and Depeche Mode.” —Dan Domsic, Managing Editor, “Relishing These 'Wow' Moments,” Current in Fishers, May 30, 2013, currentinfishers.com/relishing-those-wowmoments
You give it your all.
I bleed ’til it hurts.
We give and we take,
’til our bodies shake.
I will return….
All be revealed—
the dark and the light,
the way that I feel.
So close to God,
yet so far apart,
I found the wound
right into your heart.
What changed in us?
What put us here?
The pain we serve
cuts like a mirror.
I will return….
All be revealed—
the dark and the light,
the way that I feel.
So close to God,
yet so far apart,
I found the wound
right into your heart.
I will return….
All be revealed—
the dark and the light,
this pain that I feel!
So close to God,
yet so far apart,
I found the wound
right into your heart.

I'm surprised for the fifth time how many good electro bands exist in a country such as Sweden. I like the diverse atttitude to the electronic music. Tom Vitek
